On 14 May 2026, a delegation led by Tobias F. Svenningsen, Consul General of Norway in Shanghai, visited SASS. Professor Gan Chunhui, President of SASS, met with the delegation to exchange views on China-Norway relations, China–EU relations, and economic and social development in both countries.

Professor Gan introduced SASS’s disciplinary strengths, think tank development and international engagement, and shared his views on China’s economic development and economic and China-Norway economic and trade relations. He noted that SASS would continue to deepen research in these areas and looked forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the Norwegian government, universities and think tanks, thereby contributing to stronger bilateral ties and the economic and social development of both countries.
Consul General Svenningsen thanked SASS for its warm. He outlined the cooperation between the two governments in areas including green and low-carbon development, marine research and sustainable development, and shared his views on China-Europe trade relations and trade balance issues. He remarked that, despite differences in historical backgrounds and institutional frameworks, both countries are committed to social equality and common prosperity. He expressed the hope that the two sides would further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
