On 13 May 2026, a delegation led by Ádám RÓMA, Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai, visited SASS. Professor Gan Chunhui, President of SASS, met with the delegation to exchange views on China-Hungary relations, bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, the global expansion of Chinese enterprises, and institutional cooperation.

Professor Gan extended a warm welcome to Consul General RÓMA and his delegation, and introduced the history of SASS, its academic research, think tank development and international engagement. He noted that the Academy places great importance on exchanges and cooperation with Hungarian universities and think tanks, and has been also closely following policy developments under Hungary’s new government. Hungary has become an important destination for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas, while the growing popularity of Chinese electric vehicles in Hungary reflects the sound momentum of bilateral economic and trade relations.

Consul General RÓMA noted that this year marks the 76th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and China. Hungary attaches great importance to its relationship with China, particularly cooperation in education and culture exchanges. He added that the new Hungarian government would continue to promote bilateral relations with China and welcomes Chinese investment in Hungary. He also expressed the hope of deepening academic exchanges with SASS and engaging in in-depth discussions on issues of mutual interest.

The two sides also exchanged views on economic development, innovation, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the creation of a sustainable business environment.
