Director of the Center for Foreign Policy Research and Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Visited SASS

On 28 January 2026, a delegation led by Mr. Sanjar Valiev, Director of the Centre for Foreign Policy Research and Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited SASS. Professor Gan Chunhui, Executive Vice President of SASS, met with the delegation and held in-depth discussions on China-Uzbekistan relations, prospects for economic, trade and investment cooperation, and the future development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

 


Professor Gan welcomed Mr. Valiev and his delegation, and briefed them on SASS’s work in policy advisory services, academic research and talent development. He noted that SASS has established a solid foundation for academic exchanges with Uzbekistan, and maintains long-standing ties with the Center for Foreign Policy Research and Initiatives. He added that China-Uzbekistan relations are developing steadily, with vast potential for cooperation in areas such as finance, new energy, and artificial intelligence. SASS stands ready to deepen exchanges and dialogue with the Centre through joint research on issues of shared interest, thereby contributing new momentum to bilateral relations.

 

Mr. Valiev remarked that China is a close neighbor and important partner to Uzbekistan, and that bilateral relations are currently at their best in history. Cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment fields has delivered tangible benefits to both peoples and further strengthened mutual friendship. He noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to high-quality cooperation with China and looks forward to expanding collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and clean energy. The Centre for Foreign Policy Studies is willing to enhance dialogue with SASS on issues of mutual concern, including advancing all-round cooperation between the two countries.
