On August 26, the delegation led by Jun Heekyung, President of Chungnam Institute, visited SASS. Professor Gan Chunhui, Executive Vice President of SASS, met with the visiting delegation and exchanged views on topics including China–South Korea economic development, think tank development, and institutional cooperation.

He extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the development of SASS and its initiatives. Professor Gan stressed that amid profound and complex changes in the global geopolitical landscape, exchanges and cooperation between China and South Korea—particularly among think tanks—are of great significance. In recent years, SASS has carried out fruitful collaboration with Korean partners such as Chungnam Institute and Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade. Both sides have engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges on topics including Sino-Korean economic and trade relations, industrial transformation, cultural exchanges, and regional cooperation, contributing positively to advancing think tank research.

Professor Gan also noted that Chungcheongnam-do plays a vital role in South Korea’s economic and social development and has long maintained friendly ties with Shanghai. Both sides, he said, face common challenges in areas such as digital transformation, industrial upgrading, and improving people’s livelihoods. He expressed SASS’s readiness to deepen cooperation with researchers from Chungnam Institute in joint projects and personnel exchanges.

President Jun thanked Professor Gan for the warm reception and introduced the Chungnam Institute, highlighting its key future research directions. She emphasized that as a major manufacturing hub, Chungcheongnam-do faces pressing tasks of digital transformation and industrial restructuring. With its long history of friendly exchanges with China, she noted, Chungcheongnam-do and its partners are well-positioned to strengthen cooperation on a wide range of important issues. She expressed the hope of further expanding collaboration between the two institutions to better leverage their role as think tanks.
