On May 28, 2025, the launch event for the Blue Book of Shanghai: Annual Report on Resources and Environment of Shanghai (2025) and the “15th Five-Year Plan” Green Development Outlook Symposium were held at SASS.
Experts emphasized that 2025 marks the final year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and a pivotal transition period toward the 15th Five-Year Plan. Against this backdrop, the SASS Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development and the Shanghai Academic Society for Eco-Economy are actively looking ahead to the city's next stage of green development. Their focus lies on advancing new-quality productive forces and building a Beautiful Shanghai in a coordinated and high-quality manner. This initiative draws on the platform’s strengths in talent convergence and resource integration to deepen theoretical exploration, while also continuing a long-standing tradition of contributing insights and policy advice on major ecological and developmental issues.
At the event, the newly released Annual Report on Resources and Environment of Shanghai (2025) was also presented. Compiled primarily by the SASS Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development, the Reportholds significant influence in the fields of ecological civilization and green transformation. It highlights Shanghai’s recent achievements in areas such as the development of resource and environmental element markets, the green transition of the energy system, and enhanced climate adaptation capabilities.
