On May 29, 2025, experts from leading think tanks—including the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) of the United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Public Policy  Centre, the India-China Economic & Cultural Council, and the Observer Research Foundation of India—visited SASS and held in-depth discussions with our scholars. Professor Gan Chunhui, Executive Vice President of SASS, met with the delegation.

During the meeting, Professor Gan noted that the current international landscape is marked by instability. He emphasized that the global community should work together to overcome hegemonic constraints, uphold mutual respect, promote peaceful coexistence, and advance the common development of humanity. Countries of the Global South, he pointed out, share similar historical experiences and face many common challenges and developmental tasks, which offer great potential for cooperation and mutual benefit. In this context, think tanks are well-positioned to play a constructive role. He expressed SASS’s readiness to further enhance exchanges and collaboration with think tanks in the UAE and India, contributing to the advancement of bilateral relations and the promotion of global peace.

H.E. Nickolay Mladenov, Director-General of AGDA, stated that the delegation’s primary aim was to deepen trilateral relations among China, the UAE, and India, and to explore opportunities for cooperation among the three nations. He emphasized that the UAE pursues a multilateral and balanced foreign policy, maintaining open dialogue and cooperation with countries including the United States, Russia, China, India, and Iran. The UAE is committed to promoting an open, pluralistic, peaceful, and mutually beneficial model of development.

Experts from both sides exchanged views on global trends, geopolitical developments in the Middle East, and the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence on international relations. They also discussed China’s evolving role in the Middle East, and outlined future plans to deepen academic exchanges and promote greater engagement among research institutions and scholars from all parties.
