On March 24th, Professor Gan Chunhui, Executive Vice President of SASS, met with Mr. Eldor Aripov, Director of Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies Under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS). They engaged in a thorough exchange of views on China-Uzbekistan relations, economic and trade cooperation, investment, and other key topics.
Professor Gan warmly welcomed Mr. Eldor Aripov and his delegation, highlighting the strong foundation of academic exchanges between SASS and Uzbekistan. He noted that, under the bilateral cooperation framework with ISRS, scholars from both sides have conducted in-depth discussions on the international landscape, bilateral trade relations, and cultural exchanges. As Shanghai accelerates its development as an international hub for economy, finance, trade, shipping, and technological innovation, there are shared interests and broad prospects for cooperation between Shanghai and Uzbekistan. Professor Gan emphasized SASS’s role as a leading social science research institution with strong academic and policy influence and expressed willingness to deepen dialogue with ISRS, especially on major issues, contributing to the advancement of bilateral relations.
Mr. Eldor Aripov expressed gratitude for SASS’s hospitality, pointing out that Uzbekistan-China relations are at their strongest, having reached the level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. He highlighted the steady growth in economic and trade cooperation, with rising trade volumes bringing tangible benefits to Uzbekistan and Central Asia. He affirmed ISRS’s interest in pursuing academic exchanges on shared priorities, such as the green economy and bilateral investment.
The two sides also discussed climate change, transport cooperation, and technological innovation, reaching a positive consensus on concrete pathways for future collaboration.
