On 27th February, Professor Gan Chunhui, Vice President of SASS and Director of Institute of Applied Economy, met with Ms. Edna TAN Hong Ngoh, Director of North East Asia Division at Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore). They exchanged views on topics such as economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China-ASEAN-Singapore economic and trade relations, the international political and economic landscape, business environment and social governance.
Professor Gan warmly welcomed Ms. Edna TAN Hong Ngoh and her delegation, providing insights into China's economic growth, trade diversification trends, and the challenges and opportunities ahead during the 15th Five-Year Plan. He highlighted China's vast domestic market and economic potential, emphasizing the importance of pursuing digital and green development, harnessing new technological advancements like artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and addressing emerging societal needs to drive sustainable growth.
Ms. Edna TAN Hong Ngoh acknowledged the close economic and trade ties between Singapore and China, citing successful collaborations such as the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. She expressed optimism about the broad prospects for future cooperation and shared her perspectives on China's economic and trade development, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, and China's development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan.
