December 5th—Julio DEL VALLE, Principal of Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), led a delegation to visit SASS. Professor Quan Heng, Secretary of SASS CPC Committee, welcomed the guests and engaged in discussions on economic and trade investment between China and Peru, bilateral cooperation, and other key issues.
Professor Quan highlighted the shared heritage of ancient civilizations between Peru and China and underscored the close economic and cultural ties binding the two nations. He emphasized that President Xi Jinping's visit to Peru has opened new avenues for collaboration between academic institutions of both countries, presenting higher expectations for cooperation. With the opening of Chancay Port, he noted, Peru's economy and China-Peru relations will embark on a new chapter. SASS is committed to enhancing academic exchanges and fostering cooperation with PUCP to support the healthy development of bilateral relations.
Professor Julio DEL VALLE remarked on Peru's strategic significance in South America, emphasizing the economic, political, social, and environmental importance of Chancay Port, which will positively influence the future of Sino-Peruvian relations. He expressed that China's development experience serves as a valuable reference for Peru and merits more research by Peruvian scholars. He looked forword to institutionalized collaboration and exchanges with SASS in areas such as economic and trade cooperation, investment, bilateral relations, and regional partnerships.
The two sides also explored ways to advance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, discussed the prospects of investment and trade between China and Peru, and deliberated on the frameworks and modalities for future cooperation.
