December 9th—Symposium on Integrated Development of Yangtze River Delta (YRD) and High Quality Development of Chinese Economy was held, hosted by SASS and Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore Shanghai. Scholars, entrepreneurs, government officials and students partcipated in the symposium and exchanged ideas.
Professor Zhang Xueliang, Director of School of Urban and Regional Science, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, as well as Qian Jiwei, Senior Research Fellow, East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore, delivered keynote speeches.
Panel discussions between entrepreneurs and scholars from both sides focused on key topics, including the reform initiatives of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the resource advantages driving YRD development, strategies for the integration of YRD with the cultivation of high-quality productive forces, and approaches to promoting the high-quality development of science and technology enterprises as well as private businesses. Additionally, discussions explored how Singapore can leverage and contribute to the YRD's development opportunities to foster deeper cooperation.
During the Q&A session, participants delved into topics such as trade and investment exchanges, social and cultural interactions between China and Singapore, the development of an internationalized, rule-of-law-based business environment, and challenges related to aging populations. Both sides expressed their desire to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, working together to promote economic and social ties between Shanghai, YRD, and Singapore.
