October 17th—Professor Gan Chunhui, Vice President of SASS, met with Giuseppe Provenzano, Head of the Italian Democratic Party’s Foreign Affairs Department. They had in-depth discussions on topics such as academic exchanges between SASS and Italy, Shanghai's macroeconomic situation, and industrial and economic development.
Professor Gan expressed his warm welcome to Giuseppe Provenzano and his delegation. He introduced the overall situation, latest progress and key research areas of SASS, hoping that the two sides can expand communication in the future to further enhance mutual understanding.
Giuseppe Provenzano thanked SASS for its warm reception and expressed his appreciation for the contributions of SASS in decision-making consultation. He said that this visit comes at a pivotal moment in the development of Italy-China relations. He underscored the significant role of exchanges and collaboration between think tanks and universities in enhancing bilateral ties, strengthening interactions between the two countries' political parties, and fostering mutual cultural respect. He expressed hope for deeper engagement and an expanded dialogue between the two sides in the future.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on topics such as China's future economic development, advancements in high-tech and biomedical fields, income inequality, and women's rights and interests.
