On August 21-23, the delegation of Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKY CIC), led by Chair Cheong Koon Hean, visited SASS. SASS President Wang Dezhong and Vice President Zhu Guohong met with the delegation guests on the morning of August 21. The two sides had in-depth discussions on further enhancing mutual understanding and consolidating academic exchanges and cooperation.
During the academic symposium on the afternoon of August 21, Professorial Fellow Belinda Yuen, Senior Research Fellow Samuel Chng Chong Wei and Associate Professor Yeo Kang Shua of LKY CIC, as well as Assistant Professor Fan Haobin, Liu Zhimin and Zhao Yihang of SASS Institute of Urban and Demographic Studies, shared viewpoints on topics of population aging, urban renewal and international urban construction and development. The two sides visited Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center after the symposium.
On August 22, hosted by SASS and co-organized by Shanghai Branch of China Academy of Urban Planning & Design, the Academic Symposium on Singapore’s Urban Development Experience was held in Shanghai Design Centre. In the first session, Chair Cheong Koon Hean delivered a keynote speech entitled City Metamorphosis: Urban Innovation Shapes Singapore. In the second session, a roundtable dialogue was moderated by Deputy Director Tu Qiyu, with Wang Kai, President of China Academy of Urban Planning & Design, Xiong Jian, Secretary of Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, and Chair Cheong Koon Hean joined the dialogue.
The two sides also visited the spatial transformation cases along the “River and Creak” (Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek), and visited the Shibei Hi-tech Park Enterprise AI Experience Pavilion and Shanghai North Blockchain Ecological Valley in Jing’an District.
