SASS Institute of International Relations Held the 13th Northeast Asia Cooperation Forum

On the morning of November 8, the Institute of International Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences jointly hosted the 13th Northeast Asia Cooperation Forum withthe Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), the East Asian Institute of Dongseo University of the Republic of Korea and the East Asian Institute of Keio University of Japan. Focusing on “Strengthening Regional Mechanisms: the Current Challenges and Future Prospects of Northeast Asian Cooperation”, the forum was held in both online and offline manner with the participation of experts and scholars from Dongseo University, Keio University, Asan Institute for Policy Studies of Korea, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, Fudan University, Dalian University of Foreign Studies, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Hanyang Women’s University of Korea, Korea Maritime & Ocean University and Institute of International Studies of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. The participants held discussions on the challenges facing Northeast Asia cooperation and how to promote institutionalized cooperation in political, security, economic, cultural and other fields. Broad consensus has been made during the forum.


The Northeast Asia Cooperation Forum is a think tank cooperation mechanism jointly sponsored by the Institute of International Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University and the Institute of East Asian Studies of Keio University with the support of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS). The forum is regularly hosted by the three think tanks in turn. The Forum has become an important cooperation mechanism in Northeast Asia after years of development. It has played an important role in promoting the exchanges between think tanks and people-to-people exchanges and deepening friendly cooperation among the three countries.
