The 2022 World Cities Day Global Observance and 2nd SDG Cities Global Conference were held in Shanghai on October 31, with the theme of “Taking Action from Local to Global”. As one of the activities of the 2nd SDG Cities Global Conference, the video conference on sustainable development of Shanghai-Espoo was held on the afternoon of November 2nd, Beijing time. The forum, with the theme of “UN Self-assessment of Sustainable Development and Improving Urban Governance Capacity”, was co-sponsored by the Institute of Urban and Population Development of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Foreign Affairs Office of Espoo, Finland, with the support of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Shanghai World City Day Coordination Center.
This conference is an active attempt by the Institute of Urban and Population Development to enhance the international influence of academic ideas and the social influence of research results of decision-making consultation, based on the platform offered by World Cities Day and the international exchange network of the foreign affairs departments of the government. It lays a foundation for further expanding the international exchange and cooperation in this field in the future.
