UN Urban Digital Transition and Sustainable Development Forum Held in Shanghai

On September 9, 2021, the Forum on Urban Digital Transition and Sustainable Development jointly organized by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG),the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), and Shanghai Municipal Big Data Center, was held in Shanghai. Themed on “Towards Better Governance and Life”, the forum adopted both on-site forum and online conferences. The main venue was set up at Shanghai Municipal Big Data Center, with global live streaming via the UN web platform. Elliott Harris, the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Zhu Zongyao, Director of Shanghai Municipal Big Data Center, and Wang Zhen, Vice President of SASS, delivered speeches. Experts and scholars from Fudan University, East China University of Science and Technology, SASS, Shanghai Municipal Big Data Center, Shanghai Data Exchange Corp., as well as officials from developing countries, proceeded in-depth discussions on the topic of urban digital Transition centering around building smart cities and advancing sustainable development.
