Institute of Youth and Juvenile Studies, established in 1981, is one of the earliest and largest institutes of youth and juvenile studies among the provincial academies of social sciences in China. 

The research of Institute of Youth and Juvenile Studies covers sociology of youth development, youth ideological trend and youth culture, psychological development of children and adolescents, comparison of adolescent education in China and other countries, the only child and family education, child welfare policies, and so on.

The total number of staff is 20, including 4 professors and 8 associate professors. Among them, 12 have obtained the doctorate, and 12 are female researchers. 

Institute of Youth and Juvenile Studies has made academic exchange and cooperation with the overseas universities and research institutions, e.g. Boston University, University of Sussex, University of Queensland, Utrecht University, National University of Singapore, University of Hong Kong, International Institute for the Rights of the Child, and so on.
